
CAF Disciplinary Board has imposed sanctions on the Senegal Football Federation and Morocco Football Federation
The CAF Disciplinary Board has imposed sanctions on the Football Federation of Senegal, the Football Federation of Morocco, some players and officials for the incidents that transpired during the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final, which violated the CAF Disciplinary Code.
CAF Disciplinary board action to the Senegal Football Federation: CAF disciplinary boards has suspended Senegalese:
National Team Head Coach Pape Bouna Thiaw has been suspended for five matches from all official CAF competitions due to unsporting conduct. CAF cited violations of the principles of fair play and integrity, as well as actions that brought the game into disrepute.
In addition to the suspension, Coach Thiaw has also been fined $100,000.
National Team Players:
Iliman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye for two official CAF matches, for his unsporting behaviour towards the referee.
Ismaila Sarr for two official CAF matches for his unsporting behaviour towards the referee.
Additionally the CAF disciplinary board has fined the Senegal Football Federation :
- USD 300,000 for the improper conduct of its supporters, which brought the game into disrepute in violation of the CAF Disciplinary Code principles of fair play and integrity.
- USD 300,000 for the unsporting conduct of their players and technical staff in violation of the CAF Disciplinary Code principles of fair play, loyalty and integrity. The unsporting conduct of their players and the technical staff also brought the game into disrepute.
- USD 15,000 for the misconduct of its National Team, due to five of its players having received cautions.
CAF Disciplinary board action to the Morocco Football Federation: CAF disciplinary boards has suspended Moroccan players:
- Achraf Hakimi has been suspended for two official CAF matches, with one of these matches suspended for one year from the date of this decision.
- Ismaël Saibari has been suspended for three official CAF matches and has been fined USD 100,000.
Additionally, the Morocco Football Federation has also been penalized:
- A fine of USD 200,000 for the inappropriate behavior of the stadium’s ball boys during the match.
- A fine of USD 100,000 for the improper conduct of their national team players and technical staff, who invaded the VAR review area and obstructed the referee's work.
- A further fine of USD 15,000 for the use of lasers by supporters during the match.
These actions underscore the CAF's commitment to maintaining fair play and integrity in the sport.
