Australia Women Football Team Head Coach Joe Montemurro has named a strong 22-player squad ahead of their upcoming participation in the FIFA Series set to take place from April 11-15 in Kenya, with the host nation, Malawi and India participating alongside Australia.
This FIFA series serves as a crucial preparation phase for the Australia Women National team as they gear up for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil next year. Notably, 19 members from the squad that participated in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup will be traveling to Nairobi, alongside some fresh faces like Leticia McKenna from Melbourne City, who is making her debut.
The team, captained by Sam Kerr with Steph Catley as vice-captain, will face off against Malawi in their opening match, followed by a second game contingent on the results. Coach Montemurro expressed optimism about the series, highlighting it as an invaluable opportunity for the team to reflect on past performances and fortify their approach as they move toward the World Cup.
