Paulos Weldehaimanot has officially assumed office as the new CECAFA President at the CECAFA Secretariat Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. He was warmly welcomed by Football Kenya Federation President, Hussein Mohamed, and was accompanied by CECAFA Interim Executive Director Jean Sseninde, along with the CECAFA Secretariat team.
Paulos outlined a bold vision for CECAFA, focusing on revitalizing efforts within the organization by strengthening institutional structures and enhancing strategic partnerships with CECAFA region Member Football Federations and the Sports Ministry. He acknowledged the vital role of our human resources in elevating the game, particularly as we prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations, which Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will co-host.
Football Kenya Federation President, Hussein Mohamed pledged full support and collaboration to ensure that CECAFA achieves its strategic objectives under the new leadership. "This is an exciting time for all of us, and I encourage everyone to extend their support to Paulos as he settles into this important role".
The event was attended by the CECAFA Vice-President and members of the CECAFA Secretariat, and former FKF Vice President Doris Petra. The new CECAFA President takes over from Alexandre Muyenge who served as the Acting President since late last year.
